Our garlic went into the ground in early November. It's sitting in the bed that has the oregano and sage. Beans and peas also grew here last year.
I must say that I am very pleased with the soil. It's been fortified by compost and leaf mulch for years and is really looking fine - rich, dark and friable.
Seed saving was new in 2011. We saved a bunch of beans, peas, tomatoes and peppers. Not sure how successful they'll be come spring. Oh, also seed potatoes. The potato crop was not successful although we did get some seed back out. Give it another shot next year. Ordered a bunch of heirloom, "local" seeds from a farm over in NW Indiana. Greens dominate. Goals for 2012 to follow.
